We use it.

If they ban vote by mail? We turn out in record numbers and vote in person.

If they pass the save act? We read the law to the letter, make sure we’re in compliance, and vote in record numbers.

Basically, when someone is trying to suppress your vote, you give them the opposite effect.

As the one watching from the distance, I’m curious: when you all show up in voting stations, waiting lines are for hours, how likely they say that “it is 8pm, voting is ended, everybody who could not vote, until next time”. Will happen?

WHY hasn't any Dem leadership been pushing for a National Voting Day. Even 1/2 day so people who can't SEND IN A BALLOT b/c of SAVE Act or vote by mail ban... can at least try to vote?

The State Department issues passports, and is ran by Rubio. States control your birth certificates, so that’s a toss up as well. They can close the same as they can close the post office. The save act says what’s documents are required it doesn’t guarantee you can obtain them.

💯 This is what I’ve been saying. They stop or slow down passport issuance.

It's way past time to make a [paid] national day off to vote. Especially if they ban mail in voting.

Yes, and we help our family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers ensure they can vote if this pos thing passes. If anyone has trouble voting, we all have trouble voting, no matter the party. Tick tock motherf’er

And if they pass the SAVE act, we repeal it immediately after midterms.

Passport card - $30
You just can't travel internationally with a passport card.
Can travel to Canada and Mexico.

A concern though is about who will be doing the counting.

I‘m ready for crowdsourcing mass transit to the polls.

I've been thinking about that for months.

And not only transit, but "voting partners" for people more susceptible to harassment & intimidation.

Yea, it won't be easy for millions of people to overcome the hurdles imposed by the SAVE Act. Any suggestions on how to overcome those hurdles?

Extra docs will be reqd by many, once defined by the maga gop 4 trump & will come with a price tag [illegal poll tax]. Timing to receive will docs will be a factor. IMHO, they messed w the '16, '20 & '24 elections & they'll do the same again & again until they get in real legal trouble for doing so.

If our votes didn't matter they wouldn't try so hard to suppress them.

This should *encourage* more voting.

I'm confused as to why the Red states are for the SAVE Act. They're going to lose voters too. I don't know this for a fact, but I would bet more blue voting women have passports than red voting women.

These women have been voting against their own interests, their entire lives, they’re not going to realize it until it’s too late

I dont think most VOTERS would support this bill if they knew what was in it. GOP electeds support it bc they do what Trump tells them to do. They dont care abt voters or their country - they care abt power & Fear Trump. The only ones who speak against him leave politics.

Women need to take note of the name aspect of that bill. Just in case, women should NEVER take their husband's name when married. It's an ancient holdover custom that should have disappeared at least 80 years ago, anyway.

If they ban vote by mail?

I think y'all in other parts of the country don't understand, because it's just Vermont, but the all of the Blue Seawall and a number of other Western states have been voting entirely by mail for awhile now. We don't have polling places or poll workers.

Right… lots of blue territory. Plus, many disabled folks, people lacking easy access to transportation… all the people he doesn’t want to have a vote.

It’s how I’ve voted in Oregon since moving here in the late ’90s. Everyone votes by mail

I know exactly where my birth certificate is, and I'll crawl to my polling place if I have to, to vote out every Republican.

How likely is it they pass the so called SAVE act?

They need 7 Democratic Senators or to kill the filibuster. I think it's low but not impossible.

We'd need a fund to help people obtain passports who don't have the means to pay for it if they get it across the line.

The only way they pass it is by eliminating the filibuster. But, Republicans know if they do that Democrats will do the same when they get the majority in the Senate so that's probably the only thing stopping this.

Highly unlikely.
About a dozen R Senators say they support it but don't want to waive the filibuster rules to do it (a sneaky way of opposing it).
At least 3 R Senators (Murkowski, McConnell, Tillis) flat out oppose it and all Democratic Senators oppose it.

Do 'we' also provide funds so married women in rural areas can travel and apply for passports?

Do 'we' assist in translating and completing application forms?

'We' will need to organise first this.
