I’ve never believed economic anxiety was the reason we got Trump. I think it’s status anxiety, a much nastier and more relative thing.

But part of what exacerbates status anxiety is the social dislocation that plagues American life.

ICE has been really good at catching wind of these unannounced visits in other cities recently and flying all the captured migrants out beforehand.

But not today. Well done catching them, Congresswoman. We should expect that all of the detention centers are this bad when they aren’t tipped off.
