Would not be the first time the CIA has targeted dissidents in the U.S. In fact one of the hallmarks of the post-9/11 era has been the erosion of safeguards put in place to prevent intel agencies, including the FBI, from engaging in this kind of activity.

Read the 2017 NYT story below. The individual who was investigated is now a SAC in the Dallas field office.

The FBI acknowledges the existence of records related to the investigation, but says releasing them would be an invasion of personal privacy. 2/

One of the FBI agents present in the courtroom for closing args during the Prairieland trial was investigated in 2017 after a night of debauchery. He brought a woman back to his hotel room & had his Rolex, Glock, & $60 stolen. I FOIA’d the internal investigation & the FBI has denied my request. 1/

FOIA records obtained by @typeinvestigations.org and In These Times raise questions about evidence in the federal Prairieland trial, where prosecutors argued “antifa” was a terrorist enterprise.

Read the 2018 FBI documents here. The big question, which the FBI and US Attorney's Office in Texas have not answered, is why they weren't included in discovery.

1/ The government said “antifa” posed a terrorism-level threat in the Texas Prairieland trial. But newly obtained FBI records tell a very different story.

“The prosecution broke the law when it hid this evidence from the defense. The prosecutors should be removed & a new trial granted immediately.” Exclusive investigation by @adamfederman.bsky.social @inthesetimes.com & @typeinvestigations.org casts doubt on the govt argument in the TX "antifa" trial.

Don't expect the Doyon rig accident that took place Friday evening to slow Conoco down. In an email obtained by enviro groups seeking an injunction on winter activity, Conoco's lawyers say, "Exploration activities are continuing & the seismic program is proceeding as planned."

According to preliminary reports, unusually warm temperatures on the North Slope in the days leading up to the accident appear to have played a role in what happened.

Fwiw, I wrote about the impacts of thawing permafrost on oil/gas infrastructure on the North Slope for @grist.org and @typeinvestigations.org in 2022.

If you look at the photos, Doyon and Conoco are extremely lucky that the rig tipped in the direction it did, away from the staging pad and what appears to be worker housing.

First report from Alaska DEC regarding the Doyon rig accident. Evidence of a diesel spill has been confirmed--approx 4,000 gallons were on board--some 500 feet from a tributary of the Colville River & in critical habitat for polar bears, caribou, arctic fox, ptarmigan, & muskox.

If I was based in Alaska I'd be on the next flight to Nuiqsut. ConocoPhillips, the North Slope Borough, & BLM under Trump will do everything they can to suppress information about the drilling rig accident that took place on Friday. Same thing happened with the gas leak in 2022.

"Several people with North Slope experience have said the rig likely tipped due to being moved in warm 30 degree weather, which would have caused the road to be softer. Once it went off the shoulder on the soft ground, tipping over was probably inevitable."

Another serious ConocoPhillips accident on Alaska’s North Slope, not far from the village of Nuiqsut. In 2022 the company had a major gas leak at its Alpine field, which required the evacuation of 400 workers.
