So most likely the Tories wouldโ€™ve swung back to the right sooner, quite possibly keeping them out for even longer. They might even have split, with the UKIP types heading over to Farage. Certainly Brexit wouldnโ€™t have happened

Cameron , for me, will always be defined by his failure to call the europhobicsโ€™ bluff (unlike Major), which led to the referendum, and then buggering off leaving โ€œBrexitโ€ to be defined by the headbangers
