Hey.

Tell people when they do good job.

When you like the stuff they make.

When you like the characters they’ve created.

The stories they’ve told.

Nobody hears it as often as you think bc everyone thinks everyone hears it all the time.

Trust. They don’t.

Tell. Them.

Recently, a former dev of ModNation Racers joined the Discord for the game. They shared some behind-the-scenes info including screenshots, tech info, and even a concept logo for a scrapped sequel. I was able to tell them how much I enjoy it and that the team did a STELLAR job on it.

1000x this

It's the entire purpose of my account on this site. I just like telling artists their work is lovely (well, that and finding art to begin with)

I remember every single nice thing anyone has ever said to me because it's only happened like a dozen times

Oh wow well uh, since this is going viral, Fabs one of my best friends, does A LOT of amazing work in the TTRPG space and does not have stable housing, currently.

We are working on helping them get some.

If every person who liked this donated even just a dollar it would alleviate so much.

Thank you for doing for reminding people that it is good to thank people who do creative works for doing a good job with simple kindnesses, gestures & praise.

A lot of things we do are thankless, sometimes invisible; no matter how important such gestures of thanks & praise are for our well-being.

100%!! Additionally, as a creative, interact with/thank people when they leave kind messages or show an interest in your work as well 💖 It goes a long way and people that take the time to comment should be appreciated 😁

Yes! Awhile back my partner and I made a little collection of business card 12-word RPGs and one of them touched on this. (the included pic).

Even the tiniest little bit of positive reinforcement goes SO far to just make someone's day and encourage them to continue on.

I agree! It really brightens up my day when people have liked my clips or edits. Heck, even just me being around.

You are awesome!! Not only giving a very fun vibe in every TTRPG I have ever seen you in but also you as a person. All the cool things you stand up for, all the knowledge you give. 1/

(Just remember I could do this instead of sending multiple replies)

Giving a ton of advice, biting back at people trying to troll or just be jerks, Really fun twitch streams with funny reactions to games. I am sooo glad I have you in my life!

I try, but my brain forces me to have every comment / compliment be unique, otherwise does it not feel sincere. But I always struggle to be unique every time. 😭
(Even though my friends have told me they don't care about repeating messages ❤️)

When I was still in my niche in the star wars fandom I heard it so rarely that I don't regret leaving.
Now it's just my friends and I and our OCs. I also wrote a few fics for Murderbot Diaries and the people there are much nicer and give a lot of feedback.

If you don’t tell them, how will they know?
COUNTLESS times a franchise was sentenced to cancellation, until campaigns were launched just to tell them that they were loved.

To be fair, thanks to people like @blossomarashi.bsky.social , I def. hear it a lot more than I used to (I love my aggressively supportive chaos fox ♡)!!

But it's 100% true; without visible support, we can feel like just another forgotten whisper in the void, even if we're secretly adored by many!

We can't read minds, especially through two distant screens! So though it may seem like your appreciation is obvious, we really have no way of knowing if you don't show us!

I used to be very shy, but realizing how much expressing my admiration can impact people helped me overcome so much anxiety 💖

This is part of the reason I tell my wife so often that she's doing really well. Like she does beautiful paintings that she doesn't realise are as good as they are and I'm encouraging her to do more because I like them so much. Now, she's finally got the confidence to sell them!

You'd be surprised how thankful service people are when you tell them they're doing a good job.

Next time you get food out, whether it's fast food or a restaraunt of some sort, tell the server they're doing a great job.

That small kindness can make someone's bad day a good day.

I was at a coffee shop and told the manager it was always clean and service was good.
The guy grew a foot and thanked me profusely, told the staff, also happy.
We do not recognize positive effort enough, capitalism devalues it and instead rewards the takers, not the makers.
WE are the makers.

I got something in the works that’s sole purpose is this for the TTRPG AP space and we will be looking for guests to do exactly this! So, I am excited so many people resonate with this like I do.

Words of affirmation and being told I did a good job is one of my love languages. It seems small and silly but it really does help to hear I've been doing a good job. Idk why but I'm wired that way I suppose *shrugs

The supreme discipline on social media as an artist is to get a comment on your character or your drawing. And I'm not talking about " 🔥🔥😍👍 " ad a comment.

"Hey, sometimes - ok, a lot of times - your characters really piss me off and I enjoy that. Keep pissing me off." is something I wanna tell someone I love the work of but IDK they're white, they could take that as an attack instead of a compliment XD
2

Idk, I'm white, and I think that's both hilarious and incredibly endearing!

Maybe they want their characters to piss you off, and will be happy to know it's working!

And if they do get offended, oh well! All you did was express your unique flavor of admiration. They don't have to understand it!

I mean I'm not white and this happens to me and I always feel comments like that come off as kind of over-familiar

You don't know them but you want them to know you like their art, so I'd opt for a more constructive tone rather than joking around and being casual

it's boring, but it's less risky
