I would post a comment and then want to delete it and couldn't find it. It's happened several times. The only thing I could of is that the volume of responses made mine disappear or they're all floating in the air. Maybe after a certain period of time they go away?

Interesting! If you're talking about replies to replies—posts that are in the middle of the thread rather than replying directly to the top post—you have to click on the post you directly responded to if you want to see all the replies. e.g., the hidden 93 replies under Jamelle's post below
