Isn't this still pending law changes? At least to be connected to the home/grid.

I've been eyeing this up myself: I have a south-facing shed roof sizeable enough for an 800w setup. I just need to replace a few beams and re-felt the roof.

The Government announced on 24 March 2026 that it plans to update both the G98 grid code and BS 7671 wiring rules so sub-800W systems can plug into a normal domestic socket without needing an electrician

I hope we're able to import the same well-tested systems already used in places like Germany.
I'm in the sunny south, so it'd be so impactful down here. I reckoned from data and my own analysis, 2-3 years it could pay for itself. 3-4 with a couple kWh battery added too.
