It's just not a useful data point compared to a photo, especially when "I see a little silhouette of a man" is purely vibes based. Anyone with unusually short or long hair will report having people double take.

I suspect it's on there to help identify you. I also suspect if you're arrested, the cops will know what holding cell to put you in. In the case of women,that's a pretty big deal. Imagine a woman locked in a holding cell with 15 men (who are not there because they are stand up citizens).
