99% is that, yes, or utility conversations via WhatsApp for Business, which has been enthusiastically adopted around here. I have Signal and Messages for most friendly conversation.
As for proposing alternatives, I do that 1:1, but I admit I have given up on moving 30+ member groups off what works.
