I absolutely adore the commitment to this animation style you've shown - oh my god.
It reminds me of the flurries I felt when my eyes took in Dust: an Elysian's Tale's artstyle for the first time.

why did we spend so much time developing hideous 3D in the 90s when we could have easily had games that looked like this on PS1. Dragon's Lair came out in fucking 1983.

I'm not sure if they referenced that one exactly! But I do know our animation director at @kotlt-animation.bsky.social wanted to pull inspiration from authentic sources as they put together the animation move sets for our combat-focused characters!

You absolutely are :) Shadows of Darkness in particular was a huge inspiration for the game structure and forest map, and the combat takes a lot of cues from the series!
