I think that's Ratibida pinnata rather than a Rudbeckia.

You could be right. I _think_ it could be Rudbeckia hirta that has gone past its prime and go to seed (most of the black-eyed susans in the field were more of the daisy-like ones rather than coneflower-like), but you could be right. Thanks! :)
