That’s happening a lot in Japan - since 2022 there’s been crazy inflation. Even the Big Business Group (Keidanren) is suggesting pretty good wage hikes every year because they might be capitalists, but they ain’t stupid.

Uniqlo has done it multiple times - www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2025/12/22/companies/japan-uniqlo-operator-pay-hike/

You’ll be visited by 3 spirits and then if that doesn’t work, 1 Luigi

One Christmas, he had to walk up the spirit river in MGS3 with all the dying Konami IPs. Kojima was also floating around talking about his best bud Normal Reedus. Enough to spook anyone.

We can liken Konami’s resurgence to a couple who had a messy & public breakup after being rock solid for decades.

Kojima went off to live his best life.

Konami took a bit longer to find their footing after the breakup, but they put in the work, and have demonstrated real, substantive growth. ❤️

And like, GOOD FOR THEM. I’m so happy for where both of their journeys have taken them.

so from what I’ve seen, fixing the sinking ship started around 2019, obv got somewhat stalled by Covid for a couple years, and then 2021 brought a major restructuring- by 2023/2024 we had more and more high-priority collections (MGS vol 1, CV Dominus, Gradius) and new games (Bomberman R2, SH2)

a big sticking point for me personally is them splitting Konami Arcade stuff into its own division again, which meant the gambling division was entirely split off- and also meant official US Arcade support for the first time outside of Round 1, a specific chain of arcades
