ok maybe I underestimated how much I walked every day but this is not an endurance training distance this is just normal if you don't drive a car

True. I did track steps for a bit, and even with a car and a white collar job, just my normal routine including a dog walk would get me to somewhere around 8k over the course of a day.

You can easily get to 10k steps with only those 2 dedicated 20 minute walks because of all the “background” walking you do from room to room, to the mailbox, while buying groceries, running errands, etc. Unless I’m lying in bed sick I get 5k steps without noticing.
