Yeah, It’s called “JAQ’ing off”, and the NYT does it with no irony, even though It’s a well known trope/sleaze tactic, and they’re supposed to be “America’s paper of record”. They can’t adjust, because the juice is worth the squeeze right now.

Normies haven’t really caught on, and other legacy outlets won’t call them out - because they do it too.

Wikipedia assigns this tactic to “conspiracy theorists”, but the most harmful place I’ve seen it employed is in the media and politics.
