I think it's also telling on themselves in another way: if "purity test" means "issue I am not willing to compromise on"... do they NOT have those?

There is definitely a group of democrats who believe that winning elections is the only goal, and policy should only be determined by what will win elections. Which, at that point, why bother with politics, if you don't care?

The problem with the Dems as a party is that they can't commit to either a) sacrificing any and every ideal to win or b) doing the right thing 100% of the time even if it loses votes. So instead they lose AND they throw people under the bus.
