Alarm bells are going off in my head. I’m seriously worried for this girl’s safety, but my sister would never forgive me if I outed her friend’s rape without her permission. I strongly imply to my friend that the rapist isn’t a good dude to date, but she’s not dissuaded, and I back off.

TL,DR: often times you might know that someone’s a bad dude but not feel comfortable “going public” with it because you’re too far removed from the victim to get their permission, and you can’t ruin someone’s reputation if you don’t have the goods.

And as to the original point: I don’t have enough evidence that this guy raped this girl to put him in jail. But I absolutely know enough about him that I wouldn’t be caught dead associating with him.
