See those two dots with arrows pointing to them?

They're giant gas planets orbiting their star, located 307 lightyears away.

These are directly imaged exoplanets.

I've never seen a solar system where arrows trail planets before. That's wild as shit. Go JWST go!

So not like Gliese 581d, g, f, or c? These are real? Cool!

Problem is, anything that currently can be directly imaged is far too big to be a habitable planet. Habitable planet candidates will continue to be discovered only by indirect meansโ€ฆand thus more uncertain. Still, these exo-giants are indeed cool.

This is the TYC 8998-760-1 or YSES 1 star system. The star is a pre-main-sequence K-class star the same mass and radius as the Sun.

The brighter of the two exoplanets is YC 8998-760-1b. Between 14 and 21 times the mass of Jupiter, it orbits at 146 AU, around five times farther than Neptune.

The dimmer of the two exogiants, TYC 8998-760-1c, is about seven times the mass of Jupiter and is a staggering 320 AU from its starโ€”11 times Neptune's distance from the Sun, or almost 50 billion km.

And on one of their moons is a beautiful woman who can't wait to kiss Captain Kirk!
