We laughed at people buying a twitter subscription, why should it be different for discord.

Well for one, Discord has rendered free accounts pretty much useless. I have images that are larger than their 10mb upload limit. It's been unbearable since I cancelled. Paying for a Twitter subscription doesn't get you anything useful. At least Nitro has some actual value to its users.
