A six-month suspension does not seem remotely serious enough for the type of misconduct described in the opinion (especially in a first-degree murder case).

I don’t know much about this case or have any expertise but have read a little bit this morning.

Are there criminal implications aside from what the state Supreme Court is deciding here?

Yup. And, indeed, the prosecutor admitted that what he did was a felony as part of a criminal investigation into his wrongdoing! In exchange, he got a “deferred prosecution” agreement (i.e., a promise to drop the charges).
