Because it's easier to oppress people with less power than stand up to the Faily Mail (typo, I kept it) and big donors, in the short term.

The print media have such small circulations, the authoritarian stuff can't be blamed on the Daily Mail any more.

It's somebody, but not the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail isn’t just print media, sadly.

In terms of the UK, the Mail Online is the largest news outlet outside of the BBC. I think they get something like 25M unique visitors per month 😢 🤦‍♂️

The problem is the circulation figures don't include the number of people who see the sensationalist headline on the newspaper stand or the TV programmes covering the front pages or even the online presence these publications have built up.
