I wrote a post on Reddit about some thing that happened to me as a kid—a funny story, not maudlin (upshot: it was about how I confused at age 9 the word “Pedestrian” with the non-word “Pedestranian,” which some kid convinced me was a cult, which I believed into my 20s)—and I was called AI.

The commenter was *adamant* that mine was a ChatGPT post because I had the “tale tell signs” of using dashes—which I use in writing—and also employed “complex sentence structures,” and swore, therefore, I generated my story using AI.

I’ve never been so irrationally angry at anything online.

My story was true, well-told, and immediately dismissed.

We are molding absolute idiots who won’t be able to write with nuance and inventive or creative sentences. The stupidity of social media dreck are our new teachers.

Anyway.

Recently I've had to self-edit to curb my use of em-dashes because people kept viewing it as "a sign." My work has been public on the Internet since 1999, the AI trained on us!
