As a space nerd that obsesses over fuel conservation techniques in spaceflight trajectory design I was reading your initial post from that frame given it's such a space-heavy day.

Got a little sad when I realize it wasn't about that.

Yeah I've seen people who are angry about people enjoying that. They're justifiably angry about some other stuff and are linking the two.

I’ve had a few people say to me that it’s a waste of money when we should be doing X instead. And I just say, why not do both? Why is it one or the other? (False dichotomy)
