cleaning is a fantastic mental health tool. having a clean space is good, but more than that, the act itself forces you to pull your attention out into your senses so you can look for things around you that you've been filtering out that you need to fix.

we often spend most of our day partially to mostly dissociated, up in our heads and dealing with technology that trains us to live in habitual loops. when you're cleaning, you break the cycle of habitual responses to your environment, and act with deliberation and attention to what you're doing.

It became a coping mechanism for me last year, and man, does it make me feel so much better if I have everything nice and clean, make sure everything is well tended too and looked after.
