My concern with the fossil fuel companies are when they decide the future of oil etc is short term, they will buy out the wind farm and solar panel companies. Once achieved they will control the price we have to pay for ‘free’ electricity and they will continue to bleed us unless checked..

I understand that logic, but it luckily doesn't work that way. Power Prices are not arbitrairy but defined by fuel or capex. The fuel (Oil, Gas) prices are a global commodity market. The Power markets are regional and can be controlled by local authorities (if they want to)
