Judge a person by their results. Some people are natural leaders with the ability to choose the right path and rally people to produce the desired results. In the service industry, service folks separate out people that can’t fix and put them in place to teach.
These types of CEO are terrifying! I know their primary skills should be management-based, but they should also deeply understand the work their companies do!
I mean have you HEARD the man speak? Its obvious he would fail a middle school science class. If you need an insider leak to tell you that, you've got bigger problems.
People should expect CEOs not to be idiots. Forget coding, this guy sounds like he barely made it past middle school. No one this stupid should have this amount of power/money/ability to wreck the environment/livelihoods for his AI scams.
Not quite the same thing. Tech bros decided to market themselves as geniuses, innovators, etc. People are right to criticize the fact that they're nothing but greedy, entitled morons who are wrecking livelihoods and the environment. Tax billionaires out of existence. They're useless.
1) That guy (and his garbage) are about as useful as a chainlink fork for eating soup.
2) I found this in my Discover tab, saw your name, and immediately started singing the song. So that's gonna be my weekend now, thank for that (sarcastic but friendly.)
Of course he does, tech bros are white boys put in those positions and given the product for free, those Facebook Twitter etc were made by military funds and H1B Visa immigrants. He is a perfect example of failing upwards.
This! It is fairly common in tech now. It is why they have CTO’s and People like me. Head of Solution Consulting. The CEO is often the Cheerleader of the company and the chief fundraiser.
The OCP designers of ED 209 couldn't code to recognize compliance in a suspect or design an urban law enforcement Droid with the capability to walk down stairs. "Robocop" wasn't satire, it was a remarkably accurate portrayal of corporate greed and unregulated stupidity of C-suite leadership.
A dangerously delusional fool who’s doing an immense amount of damage but has so little self awareness. Very much the pattern with the Silicon Valley types.
Not his job. Does he listen to his experts? My coding experience is minimal, but my team? Awesome. My job was to listen and point them in the right biologically interesting direction.
They're all charlatans sitting at the top of a pile of gold. This is not a surprise he's full of shit. Listening to him speak for even a minute is unbearable to me, he's dumb as a box of rocks.
Because he’s a con like the rest of them. This should be considered the years of con. Sam Altman, Musk, Thiel, Dump, Vance, Hegseth etc. They are all conmen pretending g to be something their not in order to control the country. It’s past time we start recognizing this & put an end to the theft.
Par for CEO, under the rule that you're elevated to your level of incompetence, like I was, but not quite to CEO level, because I wasn't incompetent enough for that!
Unfortunately the stuff that makes good company leaders is not what makes good tech leaders. I think investors are fully aware of his short comings and don't find it at all relevant.
Funnily enough I was just thinking yesterday that SA must surely be on top of all the AI technology. But it is all bullshit. Mind you, Bill Gates also dropped out of his MS but was in fact still a shit-hot programmer. But though annoying in some ways, not as annoying as Altman.
Just listened to a NPR broadcast this AM (4/11) about Sam Altman’s Trust Issues at OpenAI. The New Yorker Radio Hour. It was informative, and mentioned what was said in this post.
