This is for courts. If you are ever selected for jury, it is your civic responsibility to embrace this ethic. Otherwise you are a free citizen in a Republic and a moral being capable of moral decisions based on available information.

When I was in high school, I learned that a classmate of mine - who I already didn’t like - had raped my sister’s friend. My sister made me promise not to tell anyone. Young as I was, I was perplexed as to why her friend didn’t report it. This guy was always getting in trouble as is.

He got expelled from the middle school for bringing a knife, only to be let back into the high school. I thought the cops would take it seriously.

Senior year of high school comes, and a friend of mine asks me to see if a female friend will go with him to prom. Nope - she’s going with the rapist.
