To be clear, I don’t care if this ceremony occurred as early as September 18, 2024. These Republican politicians were subverting democracy all through Joe Biden’s term and even before it. Ribbon-cutting ceremonies with fascists serve no purpose but to lend them undeserved appearances of legitimacy.

Timothy Snyder is famous for his advice to peacefully protest and to fight against the normalization of fascists and fascism. He is not known for having given any advice to participate with fascists in inconsequential, performative ceremonies that publicly legitimize the fascists.

Thomas, come on. The post was clearly intended as a condemnation of both sides. Why use an abstraction like “ideological opponents”? Why not say, “There is a growing and palpable bloodlust *among people like Megyn Kelly and her followers*”?

If there are *any* Democrats in Congress who will still vote to keep funding this administration when it is using that money to terrorize our cities and refusing to allow congressional representatives their clear right to observe their activities, then those reps need to be primaried into retirement
