How come I have to fight this act over and over. Women go get divorced now and change your name now or get a passport. Since they keep doing this over and over I believe they will pass this bullshit bill and we must push past it and vote anyway no matter what.

The SAVE Act will require voters to show proof of citizenship in order to register to vote! Only 1/2 of Americans hold a valid passport Birth certificates are also a problem for anyone who changed their name.

The funny thing is that I suspect this could cause more headaches for non-immigrant communities. Especially if Trump succeeds in getting rid of birthright citizenship, rendering birth certificates useless as proof of citizenship.

I don’t see how this passes the senate unless Thune nukes the filibuster to do it and he’s so far dug his heels in against doing this. Seems to me like the SAVE Act is essentially a Poll Tax, specifically designed to keep women and the poor from voting. A passport, issued by the federal government, costs about $130. Many married women adopted their husband's last name, and now their ID doesn't match their birth certificate.

It will disenfranchise 146 million voters, including 80% of all working class & likely Democratic voters, who have no passport and can't getone in time. But Democrats can't say that because it's not in their talking points to parrot.
