I know people don't like to think of bad things happening, but anyone could become chronically ill or disabled at any time, through no fault of their own, no matter how healthy they are

It shouldn't only be disabled people having to fight the government all the time, it's up to all of us

There is a lot of hubris around. People who brag about their perfect sickness record and tax bracket, for example. You are not immune from the slings & arrows of misfortune y’know lads.

Thank you for saying the quiet bit out loud. Nobody chooses to become chronically sick or disabled or have the DWP put them through hell. They also don’t deserve to be characterised as skivers or people who are milking the system.

People believe they/theirs would be fine because they'd be "really" disabled and it's only the "cheats and fakers" who will be adversely affected. An innate trust in The System only really possible if it has generally been on your side thus far.
