It’s not just gas prices – the cost of Trump’s reckless war with Iran will be felt in food prices, too. Not to mention the direct cost to taxpayers and the sacrifices from our service members and their families.

food inflation is slower and stickier than fuel inflation. gas prices fall when the war ends. grocery prices take years. the political cost lands on whoever is in office when the lag catches up.

But quite a few Americans are FOR this war with Iran by sheer contrast to Europeans. Quite a few Americans seem to also think that Istael is some kind of holier-than-thou nation when in fact it is a terrorist state far worse than Iran. A good dose of pain is what Americans need, even the good ones.

Bibi will cost the GOP the midterms. (Not that they were going to do well before this started though.)

More bluntly, prices don't ever actually come down in a meaningful way. They trend up, even when external pressures resolve, unless something is done to ensure that changes. Companies find out what people can scrape by on, charge that, and force consumers to adjust upward absent intervention.
