As they're gem dragons I'd imagine it's geomancy / electrostatic / gravity. Something suitably earthy.

With the dragon itself being the hoard and with them living so long, I imagine pieces go missing like a 90s Action Man in a jumble sale.

Gem dragons were dragons specializing in psionics rather than magic.

in previous editions Emeralds were more in line with seers (divination) but last time I checked I believe in the current edition they're presented more as illusionist.
