Thank you for reporting on this important issue. I had no idea this was going on but it makes sense bad actors would do stuff like this. I know reporters don’t ever want to be the story but excellent reporters recognize important issues and dig for the facts. Thank you again.

The first thing I thought was that this was a Russian operation trying to get inside info on Ukraine.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that adversary nations would try moves like that. Just look at Bluesky. I estimate that about half of new accounts are probably bots. And, a percentage of those bots will be garnering info on our opinions & monitoring for terroristic threats. That kind of thing.

Scamming for money is bad enough but scamming for information regarding international affairs is pretty scary.
