That's called good bedside manner, and it is a *boon* when med staff have that skill.

Phlebotomists (the docs who specifically do IVs and blood draws) usually have it, in my experience.

A good phlebotomist is truly god tier. One accidentally helped teenage me get over my fear of needles. We were having such an interesting conversation that I literally didn't notice she took 5 phials. I was actually upset it was over cause I wanted to keep yapping with her lmao

phlebotomists either have it or they don't, there's no in-between (in my experience)

I mean, i *have* met one or two that were huge pricks about it.

Went to a blood donation clinic and all of them were lovely, most had piercings so I couldnt not trust them to know how a needle worked
