Can we talk about this for a second??

Games are useful for teaching so many things.

Many people are hands on learners, and engaging in these worlds makes the lessons fun, while also helping these lessons stick in memories.

This makes learning and teaching both so much easier!

Pokemon Red taught me to read, and I learned a bunch of history stuff from Civilization III. Fire Emblem on GBA made me really quick with mental math (I was worst in my class before Fire Emblem, now I do math for a living lol). It’s all about making someone actually want to learn something!

Getting robber barons and liberating children was my favorite side quest in this game

One of those kinds of teaching can definitely be similar to how books and reading introduce people to different thoughts and stories. Having to mess around with morality and consequences. Theory of mind stuff.

Absolutely. The core to all of it truly is the story its telling, and the challenge it presents! Great point 😊

RuneScape was banned in my elementary school when I was young. To protest we wrote a whole list of things we learned exclusively because of RuneScape (trying to gloss over the violence lol). It was really good, we had close to 100 things. They didn't overturn their decision, but we tried.

That's amazing, I love to see this kind of thing, especially from younger kids. It shows alot about who they are, and what they can do! I bet that was an empowering experience, even it it didnt change the decision in the end!

As someone who has never been able to learn by just sitting down & throwing text in my face, this kind of learning would have helped me tenfold!! Glad teachers are using all kinds of tools to help teach these days!

I cant imagine how much better I'd have been in school with a method like this! I genuinely created my own learning method in college that finally worked well, but imagining this as early as high school.... absolute game changer!

It's one of the few things I'll give Ubisoft credit for, there is some truly excellent amounts of historical accuracy in the Assassin's Creed games.

My myth & legends talked about God of War for a lesson after someone in class asked about his tattoo. I had a ps2 for so long & never knew about it. It was pretty cool to hear how it related to class.
