"Recovering" in this, literally just means forcing their narrow minded gender stereotypes on people depending on what gender they were assigned at birth, based on their genitals. Basically breaking people into submission, or in some cases doing inhumane things that cause severe trauma and/or death.

Yeah. The simple solution would be to just not impose oneself on another's identity, but that's very hard for most bigots, as their whole identity seems to revolve about doing exactly that to validate the actions of themselves and those they believe in.
