Here's a quick hit on why Trump's obsession with Venezuela's oil is a bit heavy and crude in a world where the US is a net exporter and the concerns are a lot more about peak demand than peak supply. responsiblestatecraft.org/trump-venezuela-oil/

Imagine OPEC, but instead of production caps they invade each other to produce more oil 🤪

That's my understanding as well, but there are also concerns that America doesn't have the kind of oil it needs to run 21st century tech, cars and for the manufacturing of particular weapons

Yeah, I don't think people in general know US is a net exporter of oil.

A land of ignorance, led by an ignoramus.

Also a net export, I’d wager.

even fewer know that Venezuela's oil is incredibly sour and expensive to pump and refine, and most of their reserves are basically junk at any but the very highest oil prices

it would absolutely be a strategic AND tactical blunder (the US military will be decimated by a boots-on-the-ground operation) AND this is the point.

It’s not oil- it’s the contracts to replenish the military inventories and esp those fancy carriers, which are precariously close to VZ torpedos…
