That's my understanding as well, but there are also concerns that America doesn't have the kind of oil it needs to run 21st century tech, cars and for the manufacturing of particular weapons

it would absolutely be a strategic AND tactical blunder (the US military will be decimated by a boots-on-the-ground operation) AND this is the point.

It’s not oil- it’s the contracts to replenish the military inventories and esp those fancy carriers, which are precariously close to VZ torpedos…
