It's one of those ways something can be so woke it comes all the way back around to reinforcing the very prejudice it claims to oppose. It's why I have no truck with the "oh ho, America can only be evil, checkmate lib!" nonsense, because it grants all the premises of fascists and Confederates.

My rep is ilhan omar & extensively (& always has) uses the rhetorical framework of demanding america live up to its promises, connecting that to her own refugee story, etc. These people want me to tell my GOAT she's doing it wrong

I saw this very clearly in the 'leftists' who clearly agreed with teabaggers that a black President was the first stage of the American Ragnarok, and were pretty clearly salivating at the thought of the impending destruction they also thought it would unleash (but leftistly)

I wouldn't go that far. People can be extremely lacking in self-awareness. The red-brown stuff is of a slightly different character than what I'm responding to here.
