I thought modern homo sapiens originate from the eastern coast of Africa? Though I know there were other species like neanderthals that were native to Europe and Asia.

Ah well, perhaps I should say that human CIVILIZATION originated in southwest Asia. Between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, between modern day Turkey, Iraq, and Iran. It's known as the "Cradle of Human Civilization" and honestly would make a perfect backdrop for this little scene we've created

I looked on Wikipedia and it looked like humans have been sewing animal hides together since the paleolithic era so sewing actually predates civilization!

There have been multiple cradles of civilization/pristine civilizations
Just off the top of my head in not particular order: Mesopotamia as you mentioned, Egypt, China, the Indian subcontinent, Mesoamerica and finally Andes
