The 25th Amendment was written at a time when government was not saturated with acolytes of the President.
I can see noone in the line of succession that I could trust with the authority and power of the office of President.

Apart from the MAGA backlash if they did, it shows good judgement on their part, since most of them would be crushed by the pressures of the office.
