when I ask myself things like that it often comes back to "enough has been taken from me and it's time for other people who have more to give things up"

If it were a sure thing, I'd give plenty up. It just isn't and giving up my life will do nothing.

For myself: An awful lot. But what affects me also affects my family.

I have to imagine a lot of people are wrestling with how much pain inflicted on their spouses and children is worth it. Better to be together in hell or them be without you in maybe-less-hell?

Or maybe I'm just a coward.

I wish there were actual avenues where giving up things would make it stop- but maybe I simply don't have the things people would need to give up to make change. It really feels like if a handful of specific people were to give up things, dramatic change would happen.
