GB household energy bills could increase by £290 a year to £1,929 this summer.

Govt can help:
Abolish VAT on domestic fuel.
Transfer green kevies to general taxation.
Decouple price of electricity produced from gas from the rest.

End profiteering, nationalise energy.

I read a few days ago that energy companies profit is £20 million per minute. Maybe we could also look at that obscenity.

What’s the point of moving a cost from one tax to another ?
People will not put up with a Green levy on income tax.
Just tax the billionaires

Government could help.
Government won't help.

Sticking-plaster-Starmer's idea of help is an app to tell you which massively overpriced petrol station is currently 0.5p cheaper than the others.

One of the biggest problems is…

When you earn over 100k per year as a politician, receive travel, housing and energy allowances etc you really aren’t going to understand the concerns of the general public!

This present Government, like the last are not interested in the people they represent.

Currently the price of heating oil means our bill will be more than double-the price per litre is 133p versus 50p before Trump started his war.

Ouch, I feel your pain. There's no gas here in south Shropshire so it's LPG or oil.

78% of that £290 increase could be wiped out if standing charges for electricity were abolished.

Mind, for my low usage, abolishing of S/C would more than cover predicted fuel cost increases.

Leaving the EU was such a good idea. Throwing away £Billions every week is such a good strategy, it really helps when there is a Trump enduced crisis.

Starmer is a huge disappointment.

An establishment man putting the needs of the establishment first.

He is a traitor to Labour values.

They were warned who/what Starmer is, but you may as well piss into the wind!

My energy bill will be much less than this as I have solar, battery and heat pump.
There's a grant for the heat pump and I recommend talking to Octopus Energy for the whole package if you can.(I know many can't, sadly).

Other installers are available! We tried Octopus (our supplier & good at that) but only an independent installer could provide what we needed here in terms of heat pump location, etc. Now we can take advantage of the very low overnight rate to heat water, etc!

No, all they have to do is unlink renewable energy unit costs from fossil fuels. Though we do need to shift tariff taxes to wealth taxes. ✊

The government could maybe help by stopping the energy companies bending us all over a barrel and ripping us off as usual.

That's it !

Borrow, borrow borrow. Spend spend spend.
The kids will pay.

Anyone who borrows for everyday expenditure is a fool building up problems for the future.

Yes - this is a disgusting rip off - over £400 a year for zero electricity & gas

One of the major issues is the constant increase and therefore profitability/shareholder payouts of the standing charge. DNO’s need more regulation.
