Hey yall this is your chance to show the trans community you really are an ally and you're not just saying it for brownie points!!

-Do not support ANY of this
-JK Rowling has said on numerous occasions that her income goes DIRECTLY into anti-trans legislation in the UK
-Seriously. NONE. Of it.

I hated her back when she was an open British-nationalist.

Mother fuckers.

I've already gone on about how I grew up with the series and have been upset she turned it all into this, but every time I see shit on store shelves it burns a little worse.

Can't believe they're trying to bring it back as a thing with her like this.

I legit feel like the best thing to do is that we all write and create our own Wizard Magic Stories

THIS is the true solution. We can all collectively write waaaayyyyy better wizard magic stories

The Secret of Platform 13

Books of Magic by Neil Gaiman

There's two you'd be better of taking a look at.

Another hidden little gem is the "Children of the Red King" series by Jenny Nimmo.
It's a bunch of magically gifted children at a school for magic but each of them has a unique ability.
Plus the covers are sparkly!

I recommend staying away from Gaiman, given what he's been accused of.

PLEASE. Make the CONCIOUS EFFORT to not support an openly (and proudly) transphobic woman and her transphobic agenda.

When you chose to support her because "she's gonna make a million dollars anyway" it shows that your support of the trans community only exists when it is convenient to you.

This is like the 50000th time we've had to reiterate and underline "DONT SUPPORT HER!!!!" at this point there is no obliviousness or lack of education or anything. If you are supporting Harry Potter, you are supporting anti-trans legislation, you are not an ally, and I am blocking you

I remember when my son was like 12 or 13 he came to me with his Gryffindor t-shirt and asked me to get rid of it. I knew he had really liked it so I said, β€œoh, but baby we didn’t pay for this, we didn’t give her any money.” But he taught me up! He said, β€œIf I wear this, and I meet a transgender

…kid, they might think I’m not a safe person to talk to or that I won’t stand up for them if I won’t even stop wearing a t-shirt.”
And I said, β€œDamn, kid, you’re right!”

And that’s pretty much how I feel about anyone who still buys and talks about Harry Potter stuff now.

We need a New Magical World IP. One that doesn't have such a a terrible person behind it.

Fucking impossible event I'm sure. Just about everything popular tends to have a terrible creator.

Read the manga Atelier of Witch Hat.
An incredible beautiful "how to learn magic" story, with quite an inclusive cast and pointing out the faults in their worlds ruling systems.
As an artist it's even MORE relateable cause they literally have to learn how to draw (their spell sigils).

I genuinely don't get how anyone still supports her. I was a huge HP fan, not gonna pretend otherwise - but as soon as she started with her TERF crap, that well was instantly poisoned. I haven't had any desire whatsoever to watch or read or otherwise partake in any of it since.

And even if people didn't care about her being a raging transphobe, how badly she treated the people who disagree with her? How she CELEBRATES hurting people with her money? She's revolting.

In terms of "role playing" mentioned, there are better RPGs that explore the wizard school trope that doesn't go towards funding her and her transphobic agenda.

Want an HP RPG? Don't buy HP and instead buy Kids on Brooms or reflavor Legend in the Mist or try Ars Arcana or anything else.

And like, there's Magic the Ascension, Magic the Awakening, CJ Carrella's Witchcraft, the Cypher system, FATE (Core/Accelerated/Condensed), Fantasy AGE, Basic Roleplaying, Savage Worlds, and so many other games can be adapted into an HP-esque game.

I never understood how there were fans to begin with. Aside from the very first book being awash from the start with fatphobia, racism, sexism, and religious bigotry, the writing also just isn't *good*. I forced myself through two chapters, wondering when it was going to improve. It didn't.

May recommend a British magic and mystery book series to read instead for people who have outgrown Harry Potter? Rivers of London. There are comics, too.

That unfortunately STILL helps, as the companies seem to keep track of search data to see if their content is interesting enough to at least be pirated.

So no, plz avoid even that.

Just don't. The post was clear. These days even pirating it helps big firms like this because the more people engage with it and talk to each other about it, the more likely they sell more merch. It's a very simple "just dont do it," it's not a big ask.

Yeah, don't support that bigot! As much as I enjoyed the HP universe (especially as a kid) - this horrible woman does not derserve money. She WILL use her income to make lives of trans women miserable.

Also while we're at it, "Yeah well I bought this before she-"

1. Ok but people have to see it. Some closetted trans kid might go home reminded that people want them dead just for being different.
2. If you wear hate group-related iconography at all, that's fucked.

Also, before all of it? Doubtful

Most people's idea of JKR's evil arc is like 2023. Personally, it was ringing the alarm bells about her before 2020 even.

She's been a cunt for years and trans people have been telling "allies", to their face, and seen nothing change.

Fucks sake, it is grim. Eighth times the charm...

The irony of claiming to be an ally and yet you're giving her IP free advertisement by word of mouth. You're begging for brownie points and hurting the trans community at the same time by putting money in her pocket. If you want to be an ally, shut the fuck up and let her fade into obscurity.

I don't even want to see anyone review or do essays on it. Radio. Silence.

We got enough analysis out of the originals, it's time for this to be a full brick wall. Not one cent or dollar. Not one minute of watch time. I want to hear nothing about this series except people not watching it.

5 minute video called "Reasons to buy the watch and support the new Harry Potter stuff" and its just

"If you hate Trans people, go for it I guess, otherwise don't. Your joy isn't more valuable than trans people's, you fucking dick. "

and then 4 minutes and 50 seconds of direct eye contact

I know my store in Seattle has put a full stop on anything Harry Potter being sold, the biggest downside is the fact Hasbro owns Magic the Gathering, which for so many stores is their entire market. At least WotC has said there no plans for anything HP related since Strixhaven exists... For now.

Harry Potter is literary trash anyway. All she did was latch onto a desire to escape the droll mundacity of everyday life with the promise of magic. All we need is a new series that captures the same fantasy without her toxic politics and thinly veiled racism and antisemitism attached to it.

That Potter fans were calling critics and others "muggles" really gave away the game of the toxicity involved in the unquestioned supremacy of her world.

You know for a fact it's going to be filled with racism and transphobia galore because its being made purely to spite the original actors who """betrayed""" her by supporting trans people and get cancelled after one season because of backlash itll be great

Hell, you want to replay the old games and feel like games? Go play "Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate" by Szymanski brothers, it releasds next week and wears the inspiration on it's sleeve with the express goal of *not being harry potter*.
It releases next week!

SAME HERE The films were a biggest obsession of younger me but after JKR made her "opinions" clear I've distanced myself from this series and the fandom. I keep the good childhood memories in my head and that's it. ~10 years ago I've bought the books and it was the last time I ever gave her money
0

Yes!! Ive had to leave a few childhood favorites in the past, and it's not easy but it is SO MUCH more important to make adult decisions on what you are supporting then to keep getting nostalgia baited back in. We move on from childhood obsessions and find even better hobbies as adults, that's life!
