I see the logic--I do!--but I feel like the number of people who loved Republicans in 2005 and are meaningfully persuadable now is pretty minuscule compared to the number of people who'll just get pissed off by Dems praising George W Bush and Dick Cheney

all these efforts to be conciliatory and "outreach" and whatnot just makes it come across as though even the Democrats think that Republican ideas and policies are better than Democrat equivalents
