Is his middle name really "Blow" or is that just a stage name?

Afrika was an important hip hip pioneer, and so was Kurtis Blow. I believe he was the first rapper ever signed to a major record label.

Literally a member of the Black Spades gang in the Bronx which chose rap and dance battles over violence.

I really wish he chose rap and dance battles over child sexual abuse.

stuff like this always reads weird when they won’t say what the offending conduct was. for example, “we extend our condolences to all who were impacted by his life” is a wild thing to say after all that hagiography at the top. it only really makes sense if you spell out the sex crimes

The people most « impacted » by his like are his victims. Not sure they need « condolences ».
