Arise bills itself as a prequel to whichever version of the story you like best and kinda references older material but in a way that doesn't feel like a straight adaptation. You would *think* the live action version would be a remake of the 1st movie but it's more of a mashup of SAC.

Couldn't bring myself to finish SAC_2045 but it seemed like another totally new plotline that is sort of playing the same notes but isn't even a loose remake.

The new one *appears* to be eschewing the Oshii influences entirely and finally giving us the buddy cop hijinks we woulda got if the property was handed to the same people who did the Dominon Tank Police adaptation for an OVA instead.
