That poem hits. I'm from North England, not even her world, but so many decaying towns where the jobs and the money left.

Honestly, North England and post-industrial Appalachia have a lot in common, culturally and economically.

The mention of the current state of Appalachia makes me think someone needs to write a parody of Country Roads about how capitalism is causing those beautiful country roads to fade into yet another highway, another shopping center, another billionaire's private estate.

I think the sentiment is fairly universal. Where there are people, there are people who want a future for themselves and their children.
