I became 5% closer to becoming the uni bomber when the POWER BUTTON on my s23 phone got remapped to the AI button in an Android update.

I had that happen to me. Fortunately, I found an Android subreddit that showed how to reverse it.

This computer ditched the right-hand CTRL key to throw another "OOPS I just 'used A.I.' again" moment at me.

My mum's phone did something stupid like that, we only found out when she tried to restart it and it came up with some other bullshit. She's not very tech savvy, I'm the one that has to troubleshoot for her.
"Power button controls power" should stay the most basic function any non-techie can handle

I have an iPad and if I hold down the power button it brings up Siri, and like, didn't we decide years ago that holding down any power button on earth should always shut down the device? I thought this was a universal understanding

Remember how they used to have an amazing physical rotation lock switch?

That was the best thing ever - then Apple changed its default function and everyone lost their shit so hard that they actually backpedalled , which was a first for Apple.

Everyday I'm more glad my S20 is still working fine and increasingly fear the day it stops doing so

My stupid Google phone pulls up Gemini if you hold your earbud pause button for half a second too long, and I've never once meant to use it.

I'm kinda pissed they some how mapped the AUX port to Gemini so every time I connect an aux or headset cord the stupid thing pops up and gets me cussing at it.

Our stupid Google phones also now open the Nano Banana "Remix" option when we hold on a photo in a text thread instead of allowing us to add a reaction. I've also never once meant to open this.

Dawg, when that happened i looked at my pixel like the devil was inside it..

And all i could see was me nuking the software and changing it with grapheneOS.

If my pixel was sentient it would have called the police.

I immediately killed Gemini and forced it to keep the old Google Assistant. I don't wanna talk to you, phone. Set me a timer and shut up!

I, too, hate this experience.

I then need to go through a different menu to actually turn the stupid thing off.

Oh... I'm so glad I keep my updates off. If they do that to mine I'm going back to my old sliding keyboard and kissing the modern world goodbye.
