the job of a political party is simple - make every issue political, rouse political feelings among the population and use those politics as a way to motivate voters and attain power to improve things. the leaders of the dems do not understand these principles.

when i sat back and watched the bush administration along w fox news fully engage in politics, i stupidly thought the democrats would understand this is a clear roadmap for how they can get their agenda done and cook the other side. 20+ years later they still dont know shit.

I think you will find that American political parties are purely there for the enrichment of their chosen leaders and associated hangers on.

I agree they do not do the job as you describe, but I would offer they know exactly what they are doing, which is patting us all on the head and telling us we’re too simple to understand things and they will handle it. They are Reaganite gatekeepers, not leaders.

They think "politics" is beneath them. We somehow reinvented the House of Lords.

They are paid not to get it. They work for these guys, not American voters.

While Susie Wiles sure does (the muting of RFK).

But legislative leaders without majorities (and so power) simply can't carry the flag.
