James O'Brien the other week was asking if turns are relevant now. If a government listens before implementing something ridiculous or idiotic isn't that what we actually want to happen?

Funny how James changed his tune from when the Tories were constantly U turning. U-turns were very bad back then.

His analysis only works if the government doesn't double down in the face of opposition and accuse, for example, people opposing the policy of wanting the UK to be less safe.

Which Tory U Turns can you offer as specifics for this?

In my book, it's only a U-turn if it happens AFTER it's been implemented.
In this instance no legislation has even been submitted in Parliament yet. So it's more like... consultation?

Not really, theirs were on the whole.utterly awful to begin with and by their own political ethos a weakness. If you serve the public, is it wrong to listen?

Why are the govt announcing so many ideas that deeply unpopular with both right AND left?

Wealth taxes have broad popularity, banning social media for under 16s has broad popularity (says opinion polls and focus groups).

So why are those being promoted by Polanski and Badenoch respectively? 🤷‍♀️
