New York City's record-low homicide numbers in the first quarter of 2026 raise new questions about Zohran Mamdani's approach to policing.

Is the Administration's special military operation in Iran reducing crime in New York City despite Mamdani's anti law enforcement policies? We ask unvaccinated Waffle House customers teleported by aliens.

Bonus points for packing five MAGA ranting points into a single 29 word post. That's impressive!

Zohran Mamdani's policies have not yet led to the predicted massive spike in crime, but that only raises anxiety about when it will happen.

"Did Trump's deployment of the National Guard in DC lead to reduced crime in NYC despite Mamdani's policies that would otherwise increase it? In this opinion piece we explore all the ways we can credit Trump for other's successes while blaming others for his failures. "

Crime may be at historic lows in New York City; but these unvaccinated retired police at a Staten Island gun range aren’t so sure.

It was 100% predictable. NYC has had an overall downward trajectory in violent crime for 40 years, and after a spike during the pandemic has been going down very rapidly.

I've become fascinated by the fact that San Francisco also has a young mayor who is wildly popular and that crime is down there a similar amount

Funny thing, homicides in SF are up this year (14 so far vs 4 at this point in 2025), but yes, crime overall is down.

Seattle also has a young progressive mayor - is crime down there too?

not that lurie had anything to do with it. If Breed had been reelected, the numbers would have been the same. Indeed, he's taking credit for her turnaround.

Mamdani has special talent but I think there is a lesson for Democrats: young leaders who don't seem tied to a political machine are popular with voters, especially if they're relatively intelligent and not crackpots. They can be Black, Jewish, Muslim, whatever.

Correction: Just property crime (which is the big issue for SF, which tends to have very low violent crime rates and very high property crime rates) is down in SF.

Hi San Francisco here, our mayor is a billionaire who only talks to cops and rich people. He’s an austerity ghoul. If anything it confirms the belief that crime rates are cyclical and not related to any particular policy.

I live in San Francisco and Lurie is far from wildly popular.

Um, SF resident here. Genuinely curious where you get the "Lurie is wildly popular" idea.

Gary LaFree and Randolph Roth both argued that widespread trust in the government to do the right thing and belief that public officials were honest had a strong correlation with lower homicide rates.

It was also one of the coldest winters in a while. That also helped lower numbers as well.

What’s Zohran’s secret to low crime rates? What is he hiding? 🧐

Don’t worry. The Post will comb through the murders that did happen and find a particularly lurid one for the purposes of ratfucking him.

Jake and the boys will take it from there.
